At CES, Video Technology News editors and contributors will be looking for this years advances in video and presence technologies, their application to consumer products and markets, and other technologies that our readers want to know about.
CES has expanded over the last few years to include a significant pavilion for startups. New sections include: the Entertainment Matters Program and the C-Space Storyteller conference track. Augmented Reality is being introduced as part of automotive technology. Virtual Reality is in more than just games, and the combination of VR and AR, now being called “Mixed Reality,” is showing up in many markets.
Telepresence is seen in static mounts for smart devices as well as motile telepresence robots. Last year, most of the major television manufacturers announced consumer products with UHD or 4K, including glasses-free 3D and other advanced display systems such as prototype 8K displays that knocked your socks off. Cameras capable of capturing UHD/4K have reached consumer markets. This year we hope to see the DVD equivalent storage and playback machines.
The Video Technology News team will be exploring how video and presence technologies are enabling wearable devices, IOT (Internet of Things), Smart Homes, Health Care products and services, sports, automobiles, and the many other segments of the consumer marketplace.
