Today UploadVR, a virtual reality media startup headquartered in San Francisco, CA, announced they closed a $1.25 million seed round.The round was led by Shanda Group, Tianqiao Chen’s private investment group.

UploadVR’s strategic angel investors and advisors include Joe Kraus – partner at Google Ventures, Philip Rosedale – founder of Second Life, Tony Parisi, creator of VRML, Greg Castle, a seed-investor in Oculus, Sunny Dhillon, a partner at SignaVC, and more to be announced in the coming months.
Since their first meetup on June 10th, 2014 the team at UploadVR has produced over 20 events, ranging from their first meetup of 60 people and 6 demos, to AWE 2015, a 3,000 person, 200+ exhibitor 3-day conference in Silicon Valley. Alongside the events, they have grown uploadvr.com to be one of the industry’s leading VR news and talent portals with daily coverage of the VR & AR space.
